This article highlights how Youth Arise Organization is advancing youth mental health through innovative community-driven programs. Through initiatives such as mental health awareness campaigns, youth leadership training, and the Youth You’re Heard and You Matter (YYHYM) initiative, the organization is helping address stigma and improve access to support for young people.
Silence around menstruation has never solved problems, it has only deepened them. For generations, periods have been whispered about in hushed tones, relegated to “women’s issues,” while half the population remains largely uninformed about a biological process that affects billions. This segregation of knowledge and responsibility has contributed to a global crisis of period poverty
Despite growing global conversations around menstrual health, menstrual education in Africa remains grossly inadequate. My four-year engagement with the Free Flow Project has revealed significant gaps in how menstruation is taught in schools, particularly in Ghana. While access to menstrual products is often emphasized, the deeper and more persistent challenge is the lack of comprehensive,
